This may surprise you, but you can also be minimalist with your internet search engine 🔍

What? What does my search engine have to do with minimalism and frugality?
More than you think 😁
(Private) data
One of the most famous search engines (not to mention it). It is known for selling your data to companies.
Then, these companies bombard you with ads so that you buy from them. In addition, some companies sell your data to other merchants.
Even though there are laws to prevent companies from doing whatever they want with your data. Sometimes you allow them without understanding 😓.
Major Problems for Minimalists and Frugalists
Exposing our data creates 4 major problems for us minimalists:
- The time we watch these ads, even if it's just seconds, is time wasted during research.
- Advertising will give you consumer desires that are not necessarily linked to your long-term desires. Which will make you lose money unnecessarily.
- These ads tend to take up a lot of space on your screen. Which focuses most of your search on the ad and not on the content of your search. That is to say, the ads will harm your concentration.
👉 For all these reasons, a minimalist must have a search engine that shows you as few ads as possible (preferably none) and respects (at least a minimum) your privacy.
🔺Having a search engine without ads automatically means:
- Save time
- Improve your productivity
- Reduce stress
- Improve your concentration

Which search engine to choose?
There are a few search engines that I like 😊. With their flaws and qualities.
For example:
Personally, I use Brave because I think it's a very simple and complete search engine for a minimalist. As of this writing. The main advantage of Brave is the absence of advertisements on this search engine.
Brave 🦁
I am not writing this article to influence people to consume Brave.
On the other hand, I think that if you use Brave for a week as your search engine, you will certainly have a hard time going back to a classic search engine that bombards you with unwanted ads.
In my opinion, this is the best search engine for a minimalist😉

In my opinion, the main advantages of Brave are:
- Remove (almost) all ads
- According to the Brave website, do not sell your data to other marketers
- According to the Brave website, being faster when searching
- Don't distract your search with ads
- Simplifying search with Leo artificial intelligence
👉 As minimalism taught us. Less is More !
- The fewer ads we see, the faster our search is.
- The less we are distracted by ads, the more focused we are on our internet search.
- The less our data is online, the more reasonable our consumption will be
The downside of Brave
Okay I understand. On the other hand, there are no drawbacks with Brave?
Yes, there is 1.
As your data is not (or little) exposed. Your research is not that specific!
When you think about it, it makes sense.
Salespeople pay search engines to target you. With Brave, there are no ads at the moment. In this case, no one is paying for Brave to display extremely targeted results!
But if it can reassure you, I always found everything I wanted with Brave. Mainly from the artificial intelligence.
Brave's Artificial Intelligence (Leo)
Additionally, since 2024, Brave has added artificial intelligence called Leo. That is, when you ask a question on the search engine, the first search is a summary of your question by AI.
In my experience, I have rarely been disappointed with a search.
Example of a Brave search
➡️ To illustrate, here is a search I did. I wrote “The main means of transport“. Here are the results.

As we can see, the first result is accurate.
Brave VS Classic Search Engines
⚠️ In my opinion, I prefer being less tracked, using AI and not receiving ads compared to more precise searches, with poor privacy and being bombarded with ads.
Conclusion
👉 By choosing a minimalist search engine that has no ads and respects privacy at a minimum. The minimalist:
- Save time
- He is more focused
- Become less of a consumer
- He is less bothered by salespeople
Note that what the minimalist may lose with Brave is a possibly less precise search. But in my opinion, this is compensated by the AI.
Therefore, as of this writing, my preferred search engine is Brave.

About me
I decided to create this blog to develop and help readers who are looking for a simpler and more economical life.
Compared to before, I was a person who consumed a lot until the day I realized that my consumption made me sadder and poorer 😑
Now I prefer the minimum of my needs to be happy and achieve my financial freedom.
Without realizingI started to focus on saving and investing to depend on a boss for as little time as possible and to speed up my personal projects.
As a result, I am getting richer in a way that I never imagined since I have an average salary in Switzerland.
What is the purpose of this blog?
The goal is to share and learn with others who seek freedom and simplicity 😉
Are you rather minimalist or frugal Jonny?
I am as minimalist as I am frugalist. However, there are situations where I lean more towards an art of life.
To conclude, I think the most important thing is to feel comfortable in your lifestyle 😊
