Minimalist and Food

When we decide to live a minimalist and fugalist life, we think about the long-term benefits.

Indeed, what is the use of being wealthy and having a lot of free time if one has poor health?

👉According to a study by the University of Bergen in Norway1. If we have an optimal diet. On average, Men would gain 13.9 years of life and women would gain 10.6 years.

Another study, according to the bioalaune website2. With a good diet. We can add on average 10 years of life and in good health!

In conclusion, a good diet increases the chances of living longer and in better health. !

Besides, we're not talking about 1 or 2 extra years. But rather about ten years of healthy living!

It's probably frugalist and minimalist too 😉

The problem with health is that generally, as long as we are healthy, we tend not to pay much attention to it.

For example, here is some basic information I had no idea about healthy eating:

  • A label on a food product is not always a sign of high quality.
  • According to capital.fr, overconsumption of cold meats is associated with an increased risk of mortality.
  • According to Le Figaro, 1 in 5 deaths in this world are due to poor diet.
  • A food product can be ”contains bioengineered". That is, with genetically modified products. Even "healthy" products. Like salads for example.
  • Alcool
  • Coffee
  • Industrial prepared products
  • 0% products
  • Nutella (and industrial spreads)
  • The Chips
  • Industrial cereals (e.g. biscuits, cornflakes)
  • Industrial beverages (e.g. sodas, industrial orange juice, energy drinks)
  • Industrial sauces (e.g. mayonnaise, mustard)
  • Industrial grated cheese
  • Meat (especially red meat and cold cuts)
  • Sugary tea bags or drinks

I understand how convenient industrial food is! There is no need to waste time in the kitchen.

On the other hand, you only have to seek the advice of food professionals to understand that this consumption is harmful. Especially at a repeated frequency.

In addition, industrial food is generally more expensive than local food 😬

  • Farm eggs
  • Citrus fruits (e.g. orange, lemon, clementines)
  • Water
  • Bananas
  • Kiwi (from my mother's garden)
  • Salmon or trout (preferably from a local river)
  • Various fruits from the local farm and in season
  • Vegetables from local and seasonal farms
  • Small white fish (e.g., sardines)
  • Dark chocolate minimum 85% (maximum 2 squares per day)
  • Nuts (e.g., unsalted walnuts or peanuts)
  • Cold olive oil

Note! I think you get the idea. I mainly have a pesco-vegetarian diet.

Mine is mainly based on water consumption, some fish, vegetables and fruits from a local farm.

The pesco-vegetarian diet for health is a balanced approach that combines the consumption of plant products such as fruits, vegetables, legumes and cereals with protein sources from fish and seafood. By integrating foods rich in essential nutrients such as omega-3, vitamins and minerals, this diet can help promote cardiovascular health, maintain a healthy body weight and provide the elements necessary for the proper functioning of the body. In addition, it offers a wide variety of flavors and textures, making meals both tasty and nourishing.

For example, I prefer a vegetarian diet. In fact, I avoid eating meat.

On the other hand, in my opinion, I prefer to eat very occasionally, good healthy meat that comes from the village farmer, rather than being vegan and consuming chemical food supplements or fake industrial vegan meat.

For example, it is very healthy to eat an apple a day. On the other hand, if you eat an apple full of pesticides a day. You might as well not eat it 😶

In another example, it is very good for your health to eat trout. On the other hand, if the trout comes from a region that has polluted water. You might as well not eat it 😬

In reality, eating healthy foods doesn't necessarily mean eating healthy.

For example, drinking one liter of water a day is very good for your health. However, drinking 4 liters of water a day becomes harmful 😉

To eat a healthy diet, it's all about variety, quantity and common sense 😉

Note that it is not because a person consumes in our opinion "badly", that we must judge them. Each person is free to consume what they wish.

Our role should be only to share our knowledge about the potential effects of a type of diet.

👉 Simply because we only have one health.

Note that medicine cannot always correct our excess consumption or repeated poor diet.

👉 When you are minimalist and frugalist, you think you will last a long time and be healthy. One way to help this goal is to eat a healthy diet.

I shared the 12 foods I avoid and 10 foods I favor 😉

If you want more information, you will find books or blogs on this subject. I am not a food professional.

How does this blog live?

Overall, this blog lives from sharing a frugal and/or minimalist lifestyle.

For the sake of transparency towards readers, all the products recommended are intended to make life cheaper and simpler.

Essentially, my only income from this blog comes from the training courses I conduct, promo codes for products I use, and donations readers make in exchange for neutral information.

About me

Faced with not very effective financial education, as was my case before. I actually decided to create this blog following a change in my life since my early adult life.

Compared to before, I was a person who consumed a lot until the day I understood that my consumption was making me sadder and poorer. From now on, I prioritize the minimum of my needs to be happy and achieve financial freedom.

Without realizing it, I also began to prioritize savings and investments to depend on a boss for as short a time as possible and to accelerate my personal projects.

For several years I have felt happy and I have become richer in a way that I would never have imagined given that I have an average salary in Switzerland.

It is for this purpose that I decided to create this blog. To share, learn and teach with others who seek freedom, simplicity and long-term wealth.

Are you rather minimalist or frugal Jonny?

I am both a minimalist and a frugalist. However, there are situations where I lean more towards an art of living.

To conclude, I think the most important thing is to feel comfortable in your life and I have found a balance between these lifestyles without reaching the extremes.
