Is it possible to accumulate objects?
👉 We don't realize it. But every day, we bring a lot of objects into our home! For example:
- Package
- Letters
- Receipts or invoices
- Advertising papers
- Supermarket bags
- Cardboard boxes
All these objects, which are mostly useless, when they enter our home, we tend to leave them inside our home.
👉 That is, when new objects enter our home and no objects leave our home, we automatically accumulate objects.

Why is hoarding negative?

I have explained this in many articles on this blog. In reality, every new object brought inside our home automatically means:
- No more cleaning to do
- Loss of available space
👉 Therefore, avoiding accumulating objects means taking care of your home and avoiding certain household chores!
👉Also, we must not forget that the more objects we accumulate:
- The higher the difficulty of tidying up
- The more time we increase in order to tidy up
Moreover, Marie Kondo, a tidying specialist, revealed in her book “The magic of tidying up1” that she never tidies her home.
In fact, if she maintains a minimalist and orderly interior without tidying up, it is thanks to a simple trick: never add new items.
Simple, no new items, no tidying up to do.

How to avoid accumulating objects in our home?
It's very simple!
In summary, you go through 3 stages:
- Throw away everything that is useless
- Limit items to an essential number (e.g., what do you think is the essential number of T-shirts in the closet?)
The third step is to continue with a minimalist and essentialist home 🧐 And that's when this article gets interesting 😉
▶️ Therefore, when we enter our home, we must proceed as follows:
| New useless object -> Delete immediately |
| New useful object -> Deleting another object |
- New useless object -> Delete immediately

In fact, even before entering our home. We should check the new items we are bringing in 🤔
Note that it is very easy to bring new unnecessary items (e.g. advertising papers, old handkerchiefs).
👉 In this case, do not hesitate to immediately throw away the useless object.. If it's possible to throw these items away before you get home. That's even better 👍
Otherwise, these useless objects will end up in a corner of the house. No doubt these objects will take up unnecessary space and will accumulate dust.
- New useful object -> Deletion of another object
Fortunately, not all the items we bring into our homes are useless.
👉In this case, if we want to continue with a minimalist, tidy and essentialist home. In reality, we just have to think like this ”If one object comes into my home, another object must go out!”
I can give an example. In my closet, every new item of clothing I add automatically means I'm throwing away an old item of clothing!
Why? I have organized and limited my wardrobe by number of essential clothes. In fact, none of my clothes are too many. 😉
If a new piece of clothing enters my wardrobe, it automatically means that I will end up with an extra, non-essential piece of clothing in my wardrobe 😬
Therefore, in order to avoid accumulating non-essential clothes, it is very simple. If one garment goes in, another must come out!
What do you do if you throw something away?
👉 If I throw away a piece of clothing or an object from my home, in this case, I prefer to let some time pass in order to understand if the garment or object thrown away was essential!

Indeed, I understood that sometimes we believe that an object is essential, but this is not always the case.
In this case, after a few days, if I realize that I have lost an essential object, I buy a new similar object. If not, I do not buy and I live with one less object 😉
👉 In conclusion, every non-essential object that leaves my home corresponds to a small minimalist victory🫡
Conclusion
How to avoid the accumulation of objects at home? In reality, there are 5 steps:
- Remove all non-essential items
- Limit the essential number of each category of objects
- Immediately throw away new unnecessary items
- If a new essential object comes in, an old non-essential object goes out.
- If an item is leaving the home, allow a few days to pass to understand whether it is necessary to purchase an essential item.

About me
I decided to create this blog to develop and help readers who are looking for a simpler and more economical life.
Compared to before, I was a person who consumed a lot until the day I realized that my consumption made me sadder and poorer 😑
Now I prefer the minimum of my needs to be happy and achieve my financial freedom.
Without realizingI started to focus on saving and investing to depend on a boss for as little time as possible and to speed up my personal projects.
For several years I have felt happy and I have become richer in a way that I would never have imagined given that I have an average salary in Switzerland.
It is for this purpose that I decided to create this blog. In order to share and learn with other people who seek freedom and simplicity 😉
Are you rather minimalist or frugal Jonny?
I am as minimalist as I am frugalist. However, there are situations where I lean more towards an art of life.
To conclude, I think the most important thing is to feel comfortable in your lifestyle 😊
