How to avoid the accumulation of objects at home?

  • Package
  • Letters
  • Receipts or invoices
  • Advertising papers
  • Supermarket bags
  • Cardboard boxes

All these objects, which are mostly useless, when they enter our home, we tend to leave them inside our home.

  • No more cleaning to do
  • Loss of available space
  • The higher the difficulty of tidying up
  • The more time we increase in order to tidy up

It's very simple!

  1. Throw away everything that is useless
  2. Limit items to an essential number (e.g., what do you think is the essential number of T-shirts in the closet?)

The third step is to continue with a minimalist and essentialist home 🧐 And that's when this article gets interesting 😉

New useless object -> Delete immediately
New useful object -> Deleting another object

Note that it is very easy to bring new unnecessary items (e.g. advertising papers, old handkerchiefs).

👉 In this case, do not hesitate to immediately throw away the useless object.. If it's possible to throw these items away before you get home. That's even better 👍

Otherwise, these useless objects will end up in a corner of the house. No doubt these objects will take up unnecessary space and will accumulate dust.

Fortunately, not all the items we bring into our homes are useless.

👉In this case, if we want to continue with a minimalist, tidy and essentialist home. In reality, we just have to think like this ”If one object comes into my home, another object must go out!

I can give an example. In my closet, every new item of clothing I add automatically means I'm throwing away an old item of clothing!

If a new piece of clothing enters my wardrobe, it automatically means that I will end up with an extra, non-essential piece of clothing in my wardrobe 😬

Therefore, in order to avoid accumulating non-essential clothes, it is very simple. If one garment goes in, another must come out!

Indeed, I understood that sometimes we believe that an object is essential, but this is not always the case.

In this case, after a few days, if I realize that I have lost an essential object, I buy a new similar object. If not, I do not buy and I live with one less object 😉

👉 In conclusion, every non-essential object that leaves my home corresponds to a small minimalist victory🫡

Conclusion
  • Remove all non-essential items
  • Limit the essential number of each category of objects
  • Immediately throw away new unnecessary items
  • If a new essential object comes in, an old non-essential object goes out.
  • If an item is leaving the home, allow a few days to pass to understand whether it is necessary to purchase an essential item.

About me

Compared to before, I was a person who consumed a lot until the day I realized that my consumption made me sadder and poorer 😑

Now I prefer the minimum of my needs to be happy and achieve my financial freedom.

Without realizingI started to focus on saving and investing to depend on a boss for as little time as possible and to speed up my personal projects.

For several years I have felt happy and I have become richer in a way that I would never have imagined given that I have an average salary in Switzerland.

It is for this purpose that I decided to create this blog. In order to share and learn with other people who seek freedom and simplicity 😉

Are you rather minimalist or frugal Jonny?

I am as minimalist as I am frugalist. However, there are situations where I lean more towards an art of life.

To conclude, I think the most important thing is to feel comfortable in your lifestyle 😊
