In reality, a minimalist gesture can last 1 second or 1 year.
It all depends on how you view minimalism and how much time you want to dedicate to it.
Sometimes it's the small everyday gestures that gradually transform us into minimalists.
Indeed, minimalism is an art of living and practicing it should never be a constraint 😉
So, here are 6 minimalist gestures that you can apply in less than a minute.
1 – Stick a label on your mailbox saying “Stop Advertising”

By sticking a clearly visible label to stop advertising in your mailbox ⛔. You have a lot of positive aspects!
For example, by receiving fewer advertising flyers, it is automatically:
- More space saved at home
- Fewer trips to the dump
- Less temptation to consume
All this while wasting 30 seconds to stick a label in your mailbox 😊
2 – Remove notifications on your cell phone

If you remove the unusable notifications on your cell phone (at least the apps you are not interested in). You will be less disturbed when you need to concentrate. 🧐.
In fact, if you remove unwanted notifications, you will have fewer temptations to consume and you will automatically improve your social life.
For example, in Android, there is a setting that allows you to choose which notifications you want to use per app.
3 – Empty your wallet

By emptying your wallet, you will save space, search time and have a lighter wallet to carry.
How? For example:
- Remove old loyalty cards
- Remove bank cards you don't use
- Remove the 5 cent coins that have been lying around for months
- Throw away business cards you don't need
Note that you don't need to be a decluttering specialist to do this exercise 🤭
4 – Uninstall all the apps you never use

It's normal to try new apps. To use an app a lot and then over time use it little or never.
All those apps you don't use have various consequences:
- Slow down the processor
- Send consumer temptations with notifications or emails
- Slow down when looking for another app
- Taking up unnecessary space on your cell phone
This is why I advise you to remove all the applications that you no longer use!
5 – Favor walking rather than motorized travel

We all have lazy moments, sometimes we choose the easy way rather than the rational 🙄
When we have short journeys, we should favor walking over a motor vehicle. Indeed, it is much more economical, sporty and ecological. In addition, we avoid wasting time in traffic.
6 – Use an ad-free search engine

I have an article about this topic. Nowadays, it is possible to choose a search engine that respects our privacy at least a little and without advertising. 😉
This allows:
- Spend less time on ads (How horrible the advertisements are 😤)
- Reduce consumption temptations
- Improve concentration
Note that we must not forget, with a search engine, The more time we spend on an ad, the less time we will have for our initial research.
Conclusion
You don't need to be an expert in minimalism to achieve these 6 minimalist gestures. On the contrary, it's better to make small daily gestures to understand how minimalism can be beneficial 😉
▶ The most important thing to understand is that each act of elimination automatically brings closer what is essential to you ⚠
➡ Indeed, each time you eliminate something superfluous or non-essential, you take a step forward towards simplicity and what is vital to you 💪
Note that decluttering can apply to various aspects of life! For example, a material possession, an interpersonal relationship or decision-making.
To conclude, I recall the minimalist sentence which sums up this article so well.
“Less to do more”1”

How does this blog live?
Overall, this blog lives from sharing a frugal and/or minimalist lifestyle.
For the sake of transparency towards readers, all the products recommended are intended to make life cheaper and simpler.
Essentially, my only income from this blog comes from the training courses I conduct, promo codes for products I use, and donations readers make in exchange for neutral information.
About me
Faced with not very effective financial education, as was my case before. I actually decided to create this blog following a change in my life since my early adult life.
Compared to before, I was a person who consumed a lot until the day I understood that my consumption was making me sadder and poorer. From now on, I prioritize the minimum of my needs to be happy and achieve financial freedom.
Without realizing it, I also began to prioritize savings and investments to depend on a boss for as short a time as possible and to accelerate my personal projects.
For several years I have felt happy and I have become richer in a way that I would never have imagined given that I have an average salary in Switzerland.
It is for this purpose that I decided to create this blog. To share, learn and teach with others who seek freedom, simplicity and long-term wealth.
Are you rather minimalist or frugal Jonny?
I am both a minimalist and a frugalist. However, there are situations where I lean more towards an art of living.
To conclude, I think the most important thing is to feel comfortable in your life and I have found a balance between these lifestyles without reaching the extremes.
